ITV workers’ strike set to hit flagship programmes
Members of the Bectu and Amicus unions at ITV were set to strike on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this week in their pay dispute. The strike involves over 700 broadcasting, production and studio staff at ITV centres in London, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Norwich, Nottingham and Birmingham.

AROUND 150 delegates attended the annual Bectu broadcasting workers' union conference in Liverpool last weekend. The conference agreed that Bectu would support future anti-war demonstrations and to donate money to the Stop the War Coalition.

DELEGATES AT the annual conference of the broadcasting and entertainment union Bectu delivered a blow to New Labour last weekend. They went against the union's leadership and carried a motion demanding a membership-wide vote on the union's affiliation with the Labour Party. The vote produced a 61 percent majority in favour, with delegates casting branch votes of 9,165 votes for and 5,960 against.

Backstage staff at the Royal Shakespeare Company, based in London, have voted to take strike action at Christmas. The workers, members of the BECTU union, voted by nine to one in favour of strikes.

PRODUCTION workers at the Royal Shakespeare Company are to strike this weekend over redundancies. The dispute will threaten disruption to performances in Stratford-upon-Avon, says the BECTU union.
