The attacks are coming thick and fast in education. People have to be organised and ready for action—working with students, lecturers and other workers to build resistance.

We have to defend every course and every job. Management need to know that they won’t get away with destroying our education.

The money is there for education, but the government chooses to spend it on wars, weapons and bailing out the banks.

We have to be as ideological as the Tories—but for our side. We need to raise the slogan of “free education for all”.

This isn’t just about tuition fees—it’s about fighting the Tory vision of education, where private companies have free rein in providing and deciding the content of courses, and universities are privatised.

What you can do:

  • Organise an anti-cuts meeting in your college—invite local trade unionists to speak
  • Pass motions and raise the call for occupations
  • Visit picket lines, collect money for strikers
  • Be bold—join the day of dissent on 24 November called by the Education Activist Network with demos, stunts, occupations and walkouts
