STUC backs Scottish Stop the War conference

The Scottish Trade Union Congress’s general council last week voted to support the Scottish Stop the War conference on 10 February and to circulate details to all its affiliated organisations.

Assistant secretary, Mary Senior told Socialist Worker: “The STUC condemned the illegal invasion of Iraq by British and US forces, which resulted in the death of hundreds and thousands of innocent Iraqis.

“The continued failures of world leaders in the Middle East are both sickening and depressing.

“It is important that trade unionists support the Stop the War conference, so as we can challenge the armed conflict and bloodshed, and work towards a meaningful and lasting peace.”
