Around 140,000 postal workers are fighting to defend the postal service and to get decent pay and conditions.
They have been offered a 2.5 percent “rise” when inflation is 2 percent more than that – so it’s actually a pay cut.
Bosses also want to introduce harsh new conditions.
These would mean changes such as five workers doing the present work of six, covering for one another’s sick leave and holidays, policing each other’s absences and total flexibility.
The Royal Mail Business Plan means up to 40,000 job losses, and 2,500 post offices face closure.
