Around 40 bin workers in Sandwell, West Midlands, lobbied a meeting between Serco and the GMB and Unite trade unions last week.
Serco is set to be their new employer from 1 November.
Workers are engaged in a long-running battle with the council, their current employer, over a “single status” deal that has slashed their pay.
They are continuing a work to rule that began in July and have struck against the cuts.
