Hundreds of Travellers living at Dale Farm in Essex are fighting Basildon council’s plans to evict them.
The Travellers have been ordered to leave by the end of August or face forcible removal—despite the fact that they own the land.
The evictions shouldn’t be carried out at all. They would make hundreds of people homeless with no access to basic facilities—these include children, pregnant women and people with serious health problems, .
Travellers and their supporters have planned a protest for Saturday
10 September.
