Teachers at John Port school in Derbyshire have announced a five-day strike to begin on Tuesday of next week.
The workers, in the NASUWT union, are fighting plans to transform the school into an academy.
They struck on Thursday of last week and the previous week against the plans.
Strikers have won fantastic support from students, parents and other trade unionists. Students joined the picket lines on both days—and are discussing walking out themselves.
One parent told a local newspaper, “They are keeping the details of their action secret at the moment for obvious reasons but it will come swiftly and suddenly. I fully support them in this.”
Governors at John Port school are set to meet on 4 March to decide on whether to become an academy.
Some 15 schools in the county are threatened with academy status.
Union reps have raised the possibility of co-ordinated strikes to stop academies across all 15 schools.
