Hundreds of Camden residents and anti-fascist campaigners came together last Saturday at a family festival organised by Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) and Castlehaven Community Association.
The event was arranged following a rise in racist attacks in the Chalk Farm area of Camden. It aimed to raise awareness of anti-racism in the borough.
Local bands Gaoler’s Daughter, the Supernovas and the Breadstealers all showed their support for the cause.
Poets Superstead and MC Scribbles emphasised the importance of unity in the face of attacks.
Martin Smith, LMHR national organiser, reminded the crowd of the important role communities play in fighting racism.
He urged everyone to attend the demonstration against the racist EDL in Tower Hamlets on 3 September.
*Some 120 anti-fascist protesters confronted the Scottish Defence League (SDL) in Irvine, Ayrshire, last Saturday.
The SDL only managed to gather 45 supporters who were surrounded by protesters.
The protest was organised by Irvine Trades Council and Irvine Unison.
