Support is continuing to build for the People Before Profit Charter, a set of demands put forward by trade unionists and campaigners to improve the lives of working people in the face of rising prices and an economic crisis.

Workers in dispute around a number of issues have proved to be keen backers of the charter.

Care workers at the Fremantle company in Barnet, north London, who struck for an hour last week over attacks on their terms and conditions (see » Care workers’ one hour strike at Fremantle) signed up to the charter, as did RMT members who struck over pay at CBS Outdoor (see » Growing industrial battle on London transport).

Other individuals signing up to the charter include Roweena Hayward, GMB union organiser for Bristol council, and Charlie Bolton, a Green Party councillor in Bristol.

The postal workers’ CWU South Central No 1 branch passed support for the charter at its meeting last week.

Anyone in a trade union branch or campaigning group should also raise support for the charter there.
