Several hundred people gathered to oppose a fracking conference in Scarborough on Monday.
There were cries of “shame on you” and “police protect the frackers” as delegates entered the schmooze event for local councillors and businesses.
“The whole world is being ruined by greedy bastards only interested in profit and I’m not having it,” said a senior citizen from Ryedale.
John from Frack Free Scarborough added, “The title of the 1.15pm session is ‘The size of the prize’. That should tell you everything you need to know.”
The protest followed a 140-strong gathering in the small Wolds town of Driffield on Tuesday of last week to protest against a secretive meeting which took place between the town council and the fracking companies.
