Workers from a Remploy factory for disabled workers marched through Poole on Friday of last week against the closure of a factory at Alder Hills.
They got a welcome response from local people and tourists. The protest ended in a rally at the entrance to the local shopping centre.
Support was pledged from the unions and local councillors in Poole and Bournemouth.
All the main political parties were represented with Labour councillors showing some embarrassment at their own government’s response to these closures. Remploy trade unionist Les Woodward gave a rousing speech saying that this was a fight they would win.

GMB union general secretary Paul Kenny is calling for an investigation into why Remploy has hired the lobby company Portland PR. Kenny has written to work and pensions minister Peter Hain questioning the appointment of the firm run by ex-Downing Street press officer Tim Allan.
Remploy wants to close 43 factories and make 2,500 disabled workers redundant.
