The Further Education Committee (FEC) of the UCU lecturers’ union has a policy to reject any below inflation pay offer.
On Thursday of last week the Association of Colleges employers’ organisation made a pay offer of 2 percent from August followed by 1 percent from February – in real terms a pay offer of 2.5 percent.
London region UCU FEC member Sean Vernell told Socialist Worker, “This pay offer is an insult, it’s a 2 percent pay cut in real terms.
“My college branch voted unanimously to tell the FEC to reject the offer, and to launch a national petition.”
The union’s FEC was to hold a special meeting on Friday of this week to discuss its response to the offer.
It is vital that as many people as possible sign the petition to reject the pay offer before Friday’s meeting.
