Tony Blair hopes he can ride out the storms of protest over the murderous war in Iraq. He hopes he can brush aside the resistance to the government’s plunder of workers’ pensions and the plans to make us all work longer.
He hopes he can insert private companies at the very centre of the NHS and schools before he leaves 10 Downing Street.
But on Thursday 4 May we can all do something to bring Blair down sooner rather than later. In the local elections we can campaign and vote for Respect.
If Respect councillors sweep into town halls it will be one of the most powerful weapons to pitch Blair out of office.
And trade union activists are pushing for
4 May to be part of a two-day strike that would repeat and extend the electrifying success of the 28 March strike over pensions.
We cannot afford to let Blair survive a day longer. Victories for Respect and massive strikes over pensions can make 4 May a day from which he never recovers.
