Fast-track deportation of people refused permission to stay in Britain has been ruled unlawful by the High Court.
The Home Office has been using a so-called “exceptions policy” to avoid even giving 72 hours’ notice of deportations.
People have been snatched in the middle of the night. Many then found themselves on planes just a few hours later, with no chance to appeal.
Judge Silber ruled that people must have the right to challenge deportation orders instead of being given “little or no notice” of their removal.
The Home Office said it would appeal.
