Ministry of Defence (MoD) workers met last week to discuss how to fight government attempts to cut thousands of jobs.

GMB and Unite union members attended. “There were calls for action, including joining the protests at the Liberal Democrat and Tory party conferences,” said Brett Davis, a Unite member at the MoD Donnington site.

“The firefighters at MoD sites and the guard service are the two angriest sections, and could take action.”

Some activists argued that the unions should coordinate strikes with other unions in November. This will be pushed at an cross‑public sector meeting coming up in Unite.
