Haringey and Stockport protest against the cuts

Some 1,000 marched on Haringey council, stopping traffic on Wood Green High Road, over cuts on Monday.

It was called by Haringey Alliance for Public Services with the NUT, Unison, Unite and Ucatt unions.

Some 250 protesters lobbied the Lib Dem-run Stockport council meeting on Monday over £21 million cuts.

Angela Bowen of Stockport Unison said, “A lot of the people facing job cuts are low paid, women, part time workers and it will hit them hard.”
