Palestine solidarity protests

OVER 2,000 people marched in support of the Palestinians in Birmingham last Saturday. The march was organised by the newly formed Birmingham Joint Committee on Palestine. It was even bigger than the march and rally in Birmingham last December against the war in Afghanistan.

OVER 2,000 people marched in support of the Palestinians in Birmingham last Saturday. The march was organised by the newly formed Birmingham Joint Committee on Palestine. It was even bigger than the march and rally in Birmingham last December against the war in Afghanistan.


AROUND 1,000 people marched through Brighton and Hove last Saturday to show solidarity with the Palestinians. The march was organised by the Palestine Union, and saw the local Muslim community join with socialists, anti-war protesters, trade unionists and local Labour councillors in a loud and angry show of unity.

Some 1,000 people marched along Aberdeen’s Union Street last Saturday in one of the biggest demonstrations seen in the city over recent years. It was a colourful, angry procession in protest against Israeli state terror in the West Bank, and demanding an immediate end to the occupation.


OVER 1,000 people took part in an angry and militant protest at the Israeli embassy in London last Saturday. Huge cheers greeted car and bus passengers who waved flags and placards in solidarity with the demonstrators.

Earlier in the day activists from pro-Palestinian groups and a samba band staged sit-down protests in Selfridges, Starbucks and Marks & Spencer on Oxford Street. They were protesting against the sale of goods made in the Occupied Territories.


MORE THAN 100 people demonstrated noisily outside the BBC’s main office in Portland Place, London, on Thursday of last week to protest over the broadcaster’s bias in its reporting of the Israeli-Palestine conflict.
