Revelations that undercover police officers have infiltrated environmental groups in Britain has sent shockwaves through the movement.
New evidence seems to suggest that police infiltrators been operating in the anti‑fascist movement as well.
A meeting took place on 26 August last year in the run up to the EDL protest in Bradford.
It included representatives of Greater Manchester Police, the council and anti-fascist protest organisers.
There the police announced that they had “intelligence” that groups intended to disrupt the protest and attack the EDL.
Activist Emily Apple recently wrote in the Guardian about undercover officer Mark Kennedy. She said, “The last time I saw him was in August when he came to a meeting about how to best oppose the EDL in Bradford.
“He was keen on diverting the discussion away from mass mobilisation in the city centre and targeting the coaches the EDL would be using.”
Could it be that the “intelligence” referred to by Greater Manchester Police before the Bradford protest came from Mark Kennedy?
