Teachers strike in Coventry

Teachers in one of Coventry’s biggest secondary schools struck on Friday of last week in protest over rising workloads.

Around 40 NUT union members at Woodlands School took part in the action.

Teachers say that staff cuts have led to increasing workloads and that they are going without proper breaks and taking on extra lessons.

“Staff are frazzled,” said PE teacher Stewart Hall. “It’s a simple connection between less teachers and more teaching for the rest of us.”

Teachers may strike again unless a deal is reached.
