Protests across Britain marked Workers Memorial Day last week.
According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) 152 people died at work last year.
Figures for deaths in construction, one of the most dangerous industries, are up around 15 percent this year.
These numbers do not include the thousands who die of work-related diseases, like asbestos-linked cancers or heart attacks brought on by work stress.
Hilda Palmer, of Families Against Corporate Killers, said, “The path the government is taking with Chris Grayling at the helm as employment minister will kill, disable and injure more workers, not less.”
