The Aslef Tube drivers’ union has called a fresh 24-hour strike for 5 August. This follows a united walkout by the Aslef, RMT, TSSA and Unite unions on Wednesday night and Thursday of last week that completely shut down the undergound. 

London Underground was completely shut last night and today, Thursday, as all four Tube unions staged a 24-hour strike. Not a train moved and not a station opened.

Reports from a budget day of strikes and demonstrations

The London Underground was set to be closed completely on Wednesday of this week, as all four Tube unions were preparing for a 24-hour walkout.

Tube workers in the RMT union have voted by 91 percent to strike over pay and the introduction of Night Tube. TSSA members voted to strike by three to one. Unite had not announced its results as Socialist Worker went to press.
